Born in Brisbane in 1963, Todd Whisson is an Australian landscape and coastal painter. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Griffith University Queensland in 2015, after working consistently for 27 years exhibiting a significant body of work as an Australian Impressionist.
Whisson paints in oils, intuitively using plasterers’ tools to describe the passing of time through his layering technique. Drawing influence from history and local stories, Todd evokes a spirit within the landscape – finding subjects in the overlooked or unnoticed.
His artistic achievements include winner Lethbridge Landscape $20,000 Art Prize Award 2022, finalist in Lethbridge Small Scale Art Prize, Kennedy Art Prize and Clayton Utz Art Prize in 2022 and 2021. Corporate commissions include: a collection of works for the Ramsey Health Group, Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital at Kawana and The AVEO Group, throughout Queensland and N.S.W.
Todd’s work is held in public collections including: Queensland State Library, Moreton Bay Regional Council, TAFE Qld and private collections within Australia and overseas.
